Who can get it

  • Anyone who registers for MLH Global Hack Week: Hacktoberfest (October 9 to 15, 2026). MLH says the event is open to anyone, anywhere, and costs nothing to join.
  • Your MLH account needs a verified phone number and a connected GitHub account before the code can be claimed.

What you need

How to claim it

  1. 01

    Open ghw.mlh.com and register for Global Hack Week: Hacktoberfest with an MLH account. Fill in the basic profile details it asks for.

  2. 02

    In your MLH account, verify your phone number and connect your GitHub account. The claim page will not hand out a code until both are done.

  3. 03

    Open the SpaceXAI promo code page for the event (linked from the Hacktoberfest challenges list as "Sign up for a Cursor Pro Account" and from MLH's pre-event email) and reload it. Your code shows on the page.

  4. 04

    Sign in at cursor.com, open your dashboard's billing page and enter the code to move your account to Pro.

  5. 05

    Check the billing page again. It should list Pro as your current plan.

The catches

  • One code per person: MLH says you can claim a promo code only once per sponsor at this event, and SpaceXAI may add its own restrictions.

  • The hack week ends October 15, 2026. After that the claim page may stop issuing codes, and once Pro runs out the plan is $20/month if you keep it.

  • You must give MLH a phone number and link your GitHub account to claim it.

Questions

How long does the MLH Cursor Pro code last?

MLH's event pages don't say how long Pro lasts or how much usage it includes. Check the billing page in Cursor after redeeming to see your renewal date.

Do I need to be a student?

No. MLH says Global Hack Week is open to anyone, anywhere. You only need an MLH account with a verified phone and a connected GitHub account.

Who is SpaceXAI and why is it giving out Cursor codes?

SpaceXAI is the sponsor listed on the claim page. Cursor's maker, Anysphere, is a SpaceXAI subsidiary, and SpaceXAI ran the Grok Bot and Cursor stream for this hack week.

Is there a cheaper way to pay for Cursor after the code ends?
