The price difference, in detail

Kilo never charges for the extension. You can run local models, bring your own API key, or go through Kilo Gateway, which bills provider rates across hundreds of models with no markup. If you prefer to prepay, Kilo Pass at $19, $49 or $199 a month builds a balance that doesn't expire, plus monthly bonus credits that do.

Cursor is a subscription: Hobby at $0 with limited Agent requests, Pro at $20 a month before tax, Pro Plus at $60 and Ultra at $200. For teams the gap is wider, $15 per user on Kilo against $40 on Cursor, though Kilo's team seats still pay for model usage on top. Neither lists a student price right now.
