Who can get it
- Students aged 13+ in a degree or diploma course
- Verified through GitHub Education with a school email and/or dated proof of enrolment
What you need
- ID checkAn ID or enrolment check (usually SheerID or a student card upload)
How to claim it

Go to github.com/settings/education/benefits and click "Start an application".

Verify with your school email and/or official, dated proof of enrolment.

After approval, open github.com/settings/copilot to check the student plan is active. It can take several days.
The catches
It is Copilot Student, not Copilot Pro: auto model selection only and agents from other companies are left out.
GitHub re-checks your eligibility every month.
Questions
Is Copilot Student the same as Copilot Pro?
No. Pro costs $10/month and lets you pick models. Student uses auto model selection and leaves out agents from other companies.
I was approved but Copilot is not active. Why?
Approval and activation are separate steps. GitHub says the benefit can take several days to apply.
