Windsurf Is Now Devin Desktop: Is There a Student Discount?
Windsurf's editor page now redirects to Devin Desktop, which lists no student price. Here is what a student can claim for coding instead.

Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf, and its page lists no student discount. Its plans are Free at $0, Pro at $20 a month, and Max at $200 a month, with no student tier. If you were looking for the old Windsurf student price, these are the official student offers for coding tools that exist right now.
What we found
We opened Windsurf's editor page on October 2, 2026 and it redirected to devin.ai/desktop. Devin's page says "Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf" and lists these plans: Free $0, Pro $20 per month, Max $200 per month, Teams $80/month plus $40 per full seat. It says nothing about students. If a deals site still lists a Windsurf student price, we couldn't find it on the official page.
Student offers for coding that do exist

How to claim
- GitHub Copilot Student. Go to github.com/settings/education/benefits and click Start an application. Verify with your school email and/or dated proof of enrolment. After approval, open github.com/settings/copilot to confirm the student plan is active. GitHub says it can take several days. Full steps.
- Codex credits. Open chatgpt.com/codex/students and click Claim now. Verify through SheerID with your university email. You should see 2,500 credits, worth $100, on your usage page.
- Lovable. Open lovable.dev/students, log in with your university email and click Verify Student Status.
What about Cursor?
Cursor has no standing student price. Its students page says anyone can start for free and to look for promotions at on-campus and online events. If you want to pay less, yearly billing makes Pro $16 a month instead of $20. See the Cursor yearly deal.
The catches
- Copilot Student is not Copilot Pro. Pro is $10 a month and lets you pick models. GitHub re-checks your eligibility every month.
- The Codex credits are ChatGPT credits, not API credits. They extend Codex usage past the limits in your ChatGPT plan, and they need a US or Canada university and residency.
- Lovable's discount is only valid on the account you verify. If you cancel the subscription you lose the discount and can't reactivate it.
- Lovable's discount only works for accounts on the free plan.
