Google gives students a year of an AI plan at no cost, but which plan depends on your country. US college students get Google AI Pro, which is $0 for 12 months and then $19.99 a month. Students in India, the UK and Germany get the smaller AI Plus. Both must be redeemed by December 31, 2026.

How to claim
- Open your country's Gemini student page: gemini.google/students for the US, or gemini.google/in/students for India. Other countries use their own gemini.google page.
- Click the claim button and sign in with your Google account.
- Verify that you're an eligible student.
- Add a valid payment method to start the year.

The catch
- A card is needed, and it charges automatically when the year ends unless you cancel. That is $19.99 a month in the US, ₹399 in India and £4.49 in the UK.
- Germany's page headlines AI Plus, but its fine print quotes a €21.99 a month AI Pro renewal. Check the price at checkout before you add a card.
- You must redeem by December 31, 2026, and Google re-verifies your student status every year.
