Full-time students get 10 JetBrains IDEs at $0, including IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, GoLand and PhpStorm. Bought normally, the same set is the All Products Pack at US$299 a year. JetBrains AI is not fully included. Students get a limited AI trial, and AI Pro costs US$100 a year after that.
How to claim
The Student Pack
You qualify if you're a full-time student in a program that lasts at least a year. Proof can be a university email, an ISIC or ITIC card, or the GitHub Student Developer Pack.
- Open JetBrains' student form and sign in or create a JetBrains Account.
- Choose how to verify: university email, ISIC/ITIC card, or GitHub.
- If you picked email, confirm the link JetBrains sends you.
- Open any JetBrains IDE and log in. The licence should show as an educational licence.
If your school email is rejected, try the ISIC or GitHub route, or submit your school's domain to the SWOT list JetBrains checks against. Details: JetBrains Student Pack.
If you're not a full-time student
WebStorm, Rider, CLion, RustRover, RubyMine and DataGrip each have a $0 licence for non-commercial use: learning, hobby projects, content creation and open source you don't earn from. Pick the non-commercial option the first time you open the IDE. Details: non-commercial licence.
The catch
The Student Pack can't be used for commercial work, so paid freelance jobs need a normal licence. It lasts a year: JetBrains emails you two weeks before it expires and you renew from your account.
The non-commercial licence also lasts a year, and it only renews if you opened the IDE at least once in the last 6 months. It always sends anonymous usage statistics, and there's no opt-out.
After you graduate
When the Student Pack ends, you get 40% off for two years on a personal subscription, with no application. Log in with the same account and the discount is already in the cart. After that, keep renewing yearly: JetBrains cuts the price 20% in year two and 40% from year three, so the All Products Pack drops from US$299 to US$179. Full price list: JetBrains pricing.
