Questions about Midjourney
Is there a Midjourney student discount?
No. Midjourney's help center says it does not offer discounts or free plans for organizations, including educational institutions. Each student needs their own account and subscription. A school can reimburse you, but the subscription has to stay in your control.
Does Midjourney auto-renew, and how do I cancel?
Yes. Every plan renews monthly or yearly until you cancel. Click Cancel Plan on your Manage Subscription page. You keep your plan, including leftover Fast time, until the end of the billing cycle, and your images are not deleted.
Is there a trial?
Only a limited trial in the niji journey app for iOS and Android. Midjourney says there is no trial on Discord or midjourney.com right now.
Does it work outside the US?
Yes. Midjourney charges in USD only, so your bank converts the payment and may add a foreign transaction fee. Sales tax or VAT is worked out at checkout from your billing address.
Can I use the images commercially?
Yes, on every plan, under the General Commercial Terms. The exception: a company making more than $1,000,000 a year in gross revenue must be on Pro or Mega.

Midjourney vs. alternatives
Prices side by sideCanva and Midjourney do different jobs: Canva is a design editor for posts, slides and documents, and Midjourney generates images and video from prompts. The price question is usually whether you need both. Canva has a $0 plan and Pro at $144 a year, while Midjourney has no $0 plan and starts at $10 a month ($8 billed yearly).
Midjourney and Recraft both generate AI images, and Recraft also makes vector graphics you can edit as SVG. On price, Recraft is the one you can start at $0, though $0-plan images are public and can't be used commercially. Midjourney has no $0 plan and starts at $10 a month ($8 billed yearly); Recraft's paid plans start at $12 ($10 billed yearly).
