Video frame extractor

Drop a video here

MP4, WebM or MOV. It stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.

▸ Steps

How to extract the last frame of a video

  1. 1

    Open the video

Drop an MP4, WebM or MOV onto the box or choose it. The tool decodes it locally and jumps to the final frame.

  2. 2

    Pick the frame

Keep the last frame, or step back a frame or two if the ending fades or warps. The frame rate setting controls the step size.

  3. 3

    Save it

Download the frame as PNG for image-to-video, or grab the last 5 frames as a ZIP to choose from.

▸ Workflow

Extending an AI video with the last frame

Generate your first clip, save its last frame here, then start a new image-to-video generation with that frame as the start image and a prompt describing what happens next. Repeat to chain clips into a longer scene, then join them in any editor.

Keep the camera and lighting words in your prompt the same between clips. Changing them is the most common reason a continuation looks like a different shot.

▸ FAQ

Questions

How do I get the last frame of a video?

Open the video here and the tool jumps to its final frame. Press Download this frame to save it as a full-resolution PNG. Use the 1 frame buttons to step back if the very last frame is a fade or a blur.

Why use the last frame to extend an AI video?

AI video tools such as Kling, Runway, Veo, Luma and Sora generate short clips. Feeding the final frame of one clip into image-to-video as the start image keeps the scene, character and lighting continuous, so the next clip picks up where the last one ended.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The browser decodes the file locally and draws the frame to a canvas on your device. Nothing is sent to QuestLoops or any other server, so large files open instantly.

Will the frame lose quality?

PNG keeps the decoded frame exactly, at the video's full resolution. JPG and WebP are smaller but lossy. The frame can only be as sharp as the video itself: a heavily compressed clip gives a soft frame.

Why won't my .mov file open?

Many iPhone and Mac videos use HEVC (H.265), which some browsers can't decode. Chrome and Edge on recent Windows and Safari on Mac usually can. Otherwise export the clip as H.264 MP4 first.

Can I get the first frame as well?

Yes. Press First to jump to the opening frame and download it the same way. Image-to-video tools that take a first and a last frame can be fed both from the same clip.

How do I use the last frame in ComfyUI, Wan or Kling?

Save the frame here as PNG, then load it as the start image: a Load Image node feeding your image-to-video node in ComfyUI, or the start frame upload in Wan, Kling, Runway or Veo. Describe what happens next in the prompt.

How do I extract the last frame with ffmpeg?

Run ffmpeg -sseof -3 -i input.mp4 -update 1 last.png. It seeks to three seconds before the end and keeps overwriting last.png, so the file left behind is the final frame. This tool does the same in the browser without installing anything.

What does Last 5 frames (ZIP) do?

It saves the final five frames in one ZIP, so you can pick the cleanest one. The last frame of an AI clip is sometimes slightly warped or faded, and one a few frames earlier extends better.
