How to claim it

    Open gemini.google/students and click the button to claim the student plan.

    Sign in with your Google account and verify that you are an eligible college student.

  3. 03

    Add a valid payment method to start the year.

    Open NotebookLM (now Gemini Notebook) with the same Google account. Google says upgraded accounts show a badge next to the profile picture.

The catches

  • Google's student page (gemini.google/students) names Google AI Pro, not NotebookLM. The NotebookLM limits come from Google's NotebookLM help page (support.google.com/notebooklm/answer/16213268), which lists Pro limits for Google AI Pro subscribers.

  • Charges $19.99/month automatically when the year ends unless you cancel.

  • US college students only. Students in India, the UK and Germany get Google AI Plus instead, which comes with NotebookLM's smaller Plus limits.

  • Must be redeemed by 31 December 2026, and eligibility is re-verified every year.

  • Google marks the NotebookLM limits as subject to change. It last changed them on 2 September 2026.

Questions

Is this a separate NotebookLM subscription?

No. Google no longer sells NotebookLM on its own. The higher limits come with Google AI Pro, and this is the Google AI Pro student offer.

What if I am not in the US?

Students aged 18+ in India, the UK and Germany can get Google AI Plus for a year at no cost. That gives NotebookLM's Plus limits: 200 notebooks, 100 sources per notebook and 200 chats a day.

I had the 2025 AI Pro student trial. Can I claim again?

Yes, if that trial has expired. Google says those students can qualify.
