What it is

Engrim is a local-first, project-scoped episodic memory engine for AI coding agents. It stores architectural decisions, user constraints and project state in SQLite so developers can switch between tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and Google Antigravity without rebuilding the same context from scratch. The project is open source and designed to avoid cloud lock-in.

Verdict

Where it wins and loses

Pros

  • Keeps project memory local in SQLite
  • Designed for switching between different AI coding environments
  • Project-scoped memory reduces repeated setup and explanations
  • Open-source approach avoids a hosted memory lock-in

Cons

  • Only around 5 GitHub stars at last check, so this is an early project with a much smaller community than established coding-agent tools
  • You still need to configure it separately for each coding client in your workflow

Worth a look if you switch AI coding agents often and want project decisions to survive those switches, but weigh that against a tiny GitHub community (about 5 stars as of this review) before betting a workflow on it.
